Best Primary Care Practices for Hepatitis B Infection: Focus on Therapeutic Strategy Planning and Treatment Counseling

12-20-2012

According to the report by the Institute of Medicine entitled Hepatitis and Liver Cancer: Information for Health Care Providers, chronic infection with hepatitis B virus constitutes a public health problem—one that primary care clinicians can play a critical role in addressing. Specifically, the report calls for frontline clinicians to increase screening of at-risk adults, provide better patient education about HBV serologic results, and strengthen efforts toward patient access to treatment and monitoring services.

This CME Outfitters Chart Review webcast features national experts as your guides on a patient case expedition that will cover the terrain of current national guidelines from AASLD, emerging data, and expert experience. This Chart Review focuses on primary care-based treatment and counseling before specialist referral. A companion Chart Review covers HBV infection screening and diagnosis. Learners are encouraged to participate in that activity, although it is not a prerequisite for participation in this one. Both Chart Reviews follow a Live and On Demand activity, the flagship experience in the CME Outfitters vWorld™ virtual learning environment.
